  1. Prepare 8 slices regular white bread
  2. Get 12 large eggs
  3. Make ready 3 cups milk 2% milk
  4. Get 2 cups freshly shredded cheddar cheese to cover bread slices and top of casserole
  5. Take 1/2 lb deli ham, cut into bite sizes
  6. Take 1/2 tsp salt, and ground pepper to taste
  7. Take 1/2 cup chopped green onions
Instructions to make Ham and Cheese Strata:
  1. Cut off all bread crusts. Slice and butter BOTH sides of bread and lay into 9x13 baking dish.
  2. Layer 1 1/2 cups of cheese on bread, saving a 1/2 cup to add on top, 45 minutes into baking.
  3. Layer in the ham and green onions over the bread and cheese in the pan. In a separate bowl, beat together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Pour egg mixture evenly on top.
  4. Cover and chill over night.
  5. Preheat oven to 325 degrees and bake covered for about 45 minutes. Remove cover, add cheese to top, and cook for 15 more minutes.
