  8. For your own health, drain/dry the oil from fried pacholas with paper towels.

I know I'm guilty of going the easy route, too, but this recipe is really not that much harder than stirring in premade seasoning. There is also the more elaborate version of the Picadillo using ground beef, potatoes, carrots, and peas. Plus a few extras like olives and capers.
